Initially designed for a project near the Brisbane International Airport, the ‘Flight’ suite was inspired by aeronautical forms and materials. A key aspect of the brief was to allow for the application of corporate colours and the ability for multiple people to use the seating at any given time. The client also wanted a design with minimal maintenance requirements.

The DEK series is a result of the collaboration between David Shaw and Alexander Lotersztain that was sparked by the 2002 21st Century Chairs Exhibition, curated by Kirsten Fitzpatrick. Making a connection whilst the exhibition was featured the following year in Milan, David offered Alex an opportunity that grew and evolved into the DEK furniture suite available today. Based on the modernist flat bar and timber outdoor furniture, the range provides multiple seating and leaning opportunities.

An opportunity to provide design ideas for Brunswick Heads in far north NSW where they have an annual Hot Rod event was the genesis for furniture to suit this location. The sleek angles and shapes found in the range pay homage to this vintage style in a unique and contemporary way.
